Big Ocean Women – Young Voices Newsletter

Believing in the power of our youth, I really support this cause. I have had the amazing opportunity to be a part of the committee organizing this amazing conference and I am so excited to see dreams become a reality! 

There will be amazing speakers discussing issues that young people are concerned about and inspiring real change through conversations, discussions, and real action steps for change! I will be leading a discussion called, “Oversexualized Society, How did we get here, and what now?”

I had the opportunity to interview the organizer of the conference who brought the committee of young voices together to create this must-see event.  

“I have dedicated the last 7 years to researching policies concerning child protections against pornography, upholding parental authority and standing for life and family. I hold a degree in counseling with a focus in Family Advocacy. Recently, I have started the initiative to “Strengthen Idaho Families.” My objective is to meticulously research and uncover all available resources aimed at reinforcing and fortifying the family unit, accentuating motherhood, shoring up the individual, and empowering the youth.  In all my experiences with trying to solve problems and participating in conferences nationally and internationally, I have concluded that “the answer is in family.”

I have been interested in creating a Young Voices Summit for many years. Ever since I started on this path of advocacy of “protecting children”, especially protecting my own children, my daughter has been a little bird in my ear. She has made it clear that the young people don’t want to be “protected” by us. Rather, they want to learn how to protect themselves. They are in the trenches and yearn to learn how to arm themselves with tools, knowledge and resources so that they can have their voices heard and have the confidence to share absolute truth. In this process, I have learned that these young people envision a world where connection transcends disconnection, where they choose understanding over confrontation, and where their instinct is to uplift oneself and others rather than tearing down those who see the world differently. The answer is in the Young Voices. 

What I hope people learn at the summit is how to share their powerful voice, how to define and find their identity based on their core values, talents and skills, why and how strengthening the family unit is the answer to most societal problems and gain resources that will help them overcome adversity in every aspect of their life.”
