Trusting God, Having Courage, and Linking Arms (English and Spanish)

We are each a child of God.

God knows and loves each of His children.

As we embrace our true divine identity, it opens us to see and connect with others more authentically.

As we connect in authentic ways with each other and follow our inner compass and promptings of what to do and how to do it, we discover that there is a synergy through which our needs are met by others and others’s needs are met by us.

One powerful example of this is the Gambian WAVE leader Jacinta. Because of her deep personal love for God, she is endowed with the ability to see the potential in women around her. This divine vision enabled her to see a sister and daughter of God in an abandoned mother and her children who were thrown out onto the street with all their belongings during the rainy season.

Jacinta didn’t know what to do to help at first because the need was so great. She began by reaching out in kindness and building trust, believing that as she did her part, God would provide. She invited the woman into her home and intentionally created safety and strengthened her faith. Jacinta shared what she told the woman in one such moment.

“You believe in God, that God is able to change your situation. God will really intervene…. I’ll reach out. I have sisters in America. I’ll talk to them. I’ll talk to all my friends because that’s what I normally do when I can’t do something, I reach out to everybody. We’ll start from there. Don’t worry. No matter how difficult it is, we can make it. So, she started crying. She said, ‘Do you think I can make it? Do you think this situation can change?’ I said, ‘It can change!'”

Jacinta reached out to her contacts for help and resources. In time, Jacinta and the woman found a place that was big enough for the woman’s family to live together. The woman also found support and friendship from Jacinta and others in their faith community. What started out as a tragedy was turned to a blessing for all involved. Jacinta shared, 

“God placed that burden in my heart and I just thank God I am happy to do it no matter how stressful it is. To see her think differently today, to see her live differently today, to see her talk openly when before she couldn’t look another woman in the face and speak…Today this story is different. I see a different her now. I told her, in life, if you have never experienced hardship, you may not believe people’s story, but God allows us to go through certain trials to prepare us and to make us an instrument of change in other people’s life only if you open your heart.”

In this beautiful process, Jacinta herself was also supported by her global sisters. Some specific needs she and her family had were met through others who were blessed with the necessary resources, showing that as we unite to do the work of God in loving and caring for each other, we each experience the flow of abundance.

Jacinta shared this wise advice and witness with her new friend.

“Open your heart for the new things that God will do, because he has given you so much, so much. I’m not talking about the money, but he has delivered you. He has shown up for you. That is the God that you serve and He is able to stand in the gap. I don’t know who or when, but at some point, maybe your testimony is going to be a life changer for someone else that you and I do not know.”

Confiar en Dios, tener valentía y unir fuerzas

Dios conoce y ama a cada uno de sus hijos.

Al aceptar nuestra verdadera identidad divina, nos abrimos a ver y conectar con los demás de forma más auténtica.

Cuando nos conectamos de manera auténtica con los demás y seguimos nuestra intuición y las indicaciones internas sobre qué hacer y cómo hacerlo, descubrimos una sinergia a través de la cual nuestras necesidades son satisfechas por otros y las necesidades de los demás son satisfechas por nosotros.

Un ejemplo impactante de esto es Jacinta, líder de WAVE en Gambia. Gracias a su profundo amor por Dios, ella posee la capacidad de ver el potencial en las mujeres que la rodean. Esta visión divina le permitió ver a una hermana e hija de Dios en una madre abandonada y en sus hijos, quienes fueron expulsados de su hogar y arrojados a la calle con todas sus pertenencias durante la temporada de lluvias.

Al principio, Jacinta no sabía qué hacer para ayudar, ya que la necesidad era inmensa. Comenzó brindando apoyo con amabilidad y generando confianza, convencida de que, si ella hacía su parte, Dios proveería. Invitó a la mujer a su casa y le brindó un espacio seguro para fortalecer su fe. Jacinta me compartió lo que le dijo a la mujer en uno de esos momentos.

“Tú crees en Dios, crees que Dios es capaz de cambiar tu situación. Dios realmente intervendrá… Me pondré en contacto con mis hermanas en Estados Unidos. Hablaré con ellas. Hablaré con todos mis amigos, porque eso es lo que hago normalmente cuando no puedo resolver algo: pido ayuda a todo el mundo. Empezaremos por ahí. No te preocupes. Por difícil que sea, lo lograremos. Entonces, ella empezó a llorar. Me preguntó: ¿Crees que lo lograré? ¿Crees que esta situación puede cambiar? Le respondí: ¡Sí, puede cambiar!”

Jacinta contactó a sus conocidos en busca de ayuda y recursos. Con el tiempo, Jacinta y la mujer encontraron un lugar lo suficientemente grande para que la familia de la mujer pudiera vivir. La mujer también encontró apoyo y amistad en Jacinta y en otros miembros de su comunidad religiosa. Lo que comenzó como una tragedia se convirtió en una bendición para todos los involucrados. Jacinta compartió:

“Dios puso esa carga en mi corazón y simplemente le doy gracias a Dios por estar feliz de hacerlo, sin importar lo estresante que sea. Verla pensar diferente hoy, verla vivir diferente hoy, verla hablar abiertamente cuando antes no podía ni mirar a otra mujer a la cara y hablar… Hoy su historia es diferente. Ahora veo a una persona diferente. Le dije: “En la vida, si nunca has experimentado dificultades, quizás no creas las historias de los demás, pero Dios nos permite pasar por ciertas pruebas para prepararnos y convertirnos en instrumentos de cambio en la vida de otras personas, solo si abrimos nuestro corazón.”

En este hermoso proceso, Jacinta también recibió el apoyo de sus hermanas de todo el mundo. Algunas de las necesidades específicas que ella y su familia tenían fueron cubiertas por otras personas que contaban con los recursos necesarios, demostrando que al unirnos para hacer la obra de Dios, al amarnos y cuidarnos unos a otros, todos experimentamos la abundancia.

Jacinta compartió este sabio consejo y testimonio con su nueva amiga.

“Abre tu corazón a las cosas nuevas que Dios hará, porque te ha dado muchísimo, muchísimo. No me refiero al dinero, sino a que te ha liberado. Ha estado presente para ti. Ese es el Dios al que sirves, y Él es capaz de intervenir en cualquier situación. No sé quién ni cuándo, pero en algún momento, quizás tu testimonio cambie la vida de alguien que ni tú ni yo conocemos.”
