God Inside of You, Inside of Me

I think it is a common belief for many that this earthly journey is temporary and a part of a bigger plan, but sometimes we forget that in the middle of our busy lives. It was during a period of intense growth that I made an important discovery about us humans here on earth. Not only is this planet not our permanent home, but we are not of this world, we are each a beloved child of a loving, powerful God. Some might say, “Well I’ve known that we are all children of a loving God, so how is that discovery so earth-shattering for you?” I will answer that question like this…

The difference is, I don’t just know that I am a child of God, I feel it all over my body, from my head to my toes, every day, for most of the day. I live and breathe this reality. I still have problems and challenges I am passing through, but they don’t swallow me up the way they used to.  

Before you can understand why this experience means so much to me, I am going to give you a little peek into my soul. For nearly 9 years of my life, I experienced hard stuff that was not of my own making. My mental health declined slowly and then finally bottomed out after the birth of my last child. I experienced some pretty deep, hard mental health issues, for nearly 6 years after that. Many of those years I spent just praying that God would help me want to live to see another day. I honestly don’t know what it was like to feel “normal.” My “normal” was just surviving one more day. 

Through a series of ups and downs and more ups and downs, God brought some people into my life who would help me to discover how to find my True Self. That child of God inside me, inside each of us, which also means I/we have God inside me/us. That changed everything!! 

One step at a time they helped me become acquainted with who I am, and who we all are. To my utter delight, I have found that my Real Self is very familiar and so is everyone else! My Real Self has taught me to embrace and love every part of me, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I have made friends with and love every single part of me. Because I love every single part of me, I can love and make friends with just about anyone else. As our tenet for this month states, “We see those around us with an added degree of abundance, compassion, and patience…” This is the power of who we are… and whose we are… 

Our tenet for this month goes on to read, “This positive energy naturally flows outward to impact those who are closest to us. This first ripples outward from ourselves, naturally, is the family. As they feel the sense of wholeness and connection, they are inspired to carry that flow of energy to other loved ones. The impact of these ripples continues to the next sphere of influence, the community. With strong and happy families tethered to one another in love and harmony, communities will be impacted for the better.” 

We can create the kind of change we want to see in the world, and it starts within each of us and goes outward. There is always more to give away because this power energizes us from within. Some people might say, “It’s not possible to feel that good all the time!” Well, I am here to tell you, that is my daily experience, and it can be each of ours. I invite you if you haven’t yet taken that journey, to find your True Self. Do whatever it takes to love every part of you so that you can go out and love your family, then your family can go and love your community!
