We all agree that we have an inner compass within us that gives us direction whether that be choices we should make or things we shouldn’t do. The key is to consistently listen and act. Identifying how the compass speaks to you is the first step. The second, and perhaps the most important step, is following through with the action. The more we act on our impressions to do good, the more this capability within us will manifest. Subsequently, we will understand more clearly what choices are best for us to make, and when we should make them.
I witness this in my own life. There are times when miracles happen in which I could only describe it as being God and my inner compass directing me.
I was driving down the freeway home from running an errand. I had the radio on and it was only me in the car, and yet when I heard it I knew I needed to listen. I passed a semi-truck and remained in the left lane. A sports car zoomed by going at least 90 miles an hour. I rolled my eyes, thinking, “My goodness he is in a hurry to get somewhere.” Something inside me – my inner compass, God, whatever you want to call it – sharply told me to move over a lane. I did so, as I spotted the sports car suddenly swerve and spin out of control into the lane I had been in.
By the time I had moved over, the car was where I had been and continued to spin. I looked in the rear view mirror and could see the semi-truck behind me flash his lights as the car headed towards him. I looked away, my heart pounding as I kept driving until it was safe to pull over. To this day, I am not sure what happened to the semi or the car. But I know that I was protected that day from what could have been a very tragic accident.
