I recently read an article about Yellowstone National Park. Every year, millions of visitors to the park have enjoyed the natural hot springs. Unfortunately, over the years some of those visitors have entertained themselves by throwing various items into those pools of water. According to the United States Geological Survey, “Hats, gum wrappers, and tissues blown away on windy days, and rocks and sticks thrown into hot springs, all spoil the natural beauty of the Park. Keeping Yellowstone’s hot springs clean requires constant effort!”
The Yellowstone Geology Program works carefully to remove foreign objects and maintain the beauty of this park. Their efforts remove blockages, allowing the natural beauty to return to the springs, bringing the water back to its original high temperature, and increasing the flow of the springs back to its inherent state.

We have a responsibility as inhabitors of this planet to be stewards of the land. Big Ocean Women’s tenet this month touches on our ecological responsibilities as well as other methods of promoting a life culture:
“We Live and promote a life-culture within the womb, the home, and our ecological environment.”
Our talented authors explore this concept in various ways. Norma recounts how Big Ocean Women was born, and the blessings its life-changing life culture brings. Shelli explores how we can find the holy in our wild spaces as she talks about gardening. Austin describes the innate ability women have to bring life to our souls at each stage of our development. Emily shares the example of Proviah, leader of the Uganda Kiryowa WAVE, and Mahjolee explores the meaning behind the 2026 Big Ocean Women Summit and its theme, “Awake and Arise.” Lisa and Eliza both enlighten us with their experiences attending the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and what they have learned. Also included are more recipes shared from the kitchens of our sisters.
We hope you will find inspiration in these articles and see ways in which you can individually promote a life culture in this world!
